Orientation
Choose the trip that fits
All three versions begin with an Athens night and finish with another there before the return flight. The difference is the number of islands and complete days ashore.
The ten-day plan combines four Naxos nights with three Santorini nights. Paros joins only at fourteen days; Crete, Corfu and Rhodes are alternatives to this itinerary.

I would fix the return to Athens first, then allocate the available island nights. If a connection does not work, reorder or drop an island rather than tightening the flight connection.

Planning notes
Avoid These Common Mistakes
Putting three islands into seven days
Arrival, two or three ferries and departure consume much of the week.
Counting a transfer as a full beach day
Check-out, harbor transfer, boarding, sailing and check-in belong to the same travel block.
Checking ferries after nonrefundable rooms
A geographically sensible order may still fail on the actual weekday.
Travel planning answers
Planning questions
How many islands fit into seven days?+
Our Athens-return version has four Naxos nights and one Athens night before and after. Another island would split the few complete days.
Are ferries guaranteed on these routes?+
No. The order is an editorial plan. Check actual connections and times before committing to hotels.
Can Paros replace Naxos?+
Yes. Replace the four Naxos nights in the seven- or ten-day version with Paros if the arrival and onward services work.
Must I return to Athens before flying home?+
If the international flight leaves there, this plan includes the preceding Athens night. A direct flight home from Santorini allows a different route; recalculate its nights and flight conditions.
Worth it / Skip if
Worth it
For arrival and departure through Athens, with substantial island stays rather than daily ferry changes.
Skip if
This Cyclades plan is not a combined circuit through Corfu, Crete and Rhodes; those need different arrivals and substantially more time.
With kids
The seven-day version keeps one island. On longer trips, add complete days before adding ferry legs.

Guide details
Before booking: start and finish in Athens
These plans start with arrival in Athens on day one and end with a flight from Athens on the final day. The first night avoids a tight flight-to-ferry connection; the last separates the return ferry from the international flight. A buffer night reduces connection pressure but cannot guarantee travel during a prolonged disruption.
The order follows a common Cyclades corridor. It is not a confirmed timetable. Check every travel date with the operator before booking nonrefundable rooms. A suitable direct service matters more than an ideal order on a map.
Seven days: one island with four nights
- Day 1: arrive in Athens and stay there or in a location chosen for the ferry.
- Day 2: transfer to Piraeus and sail to Naxos; first island night.
- Days 3–5: three full days for Chora, a beach and a village excursion. Four Naxos nights fall on days two to five.
- Day 6: return to Athens for the final night.
- Day 7: fly home.
Total: 6 nights = Athens 1 + Naxos 4 + Athens 1. Paros can replace Naxos if its accommodation and connections suit you better.
Ten days: Naxos and Santorini
The first five days follow the same Naxos plan. Day six transfers to Santorini. Nights six, seven and eight are there: three nights with two complete days. Use one for the caldera and Oia, the other for Akrotiri or a beach.
Return to Athens on day nine and fly on day ten. Total: 9 nights = Athens 1 + Naxos 4 + Santorini 3 + Athens 1. The matching budget example totals EUR 2,680 jointly for two adults, excluding international flights and major extras, with every price assumption shown.
Fourteen days: add Paros
- Day 1: Athens, one night.
- Days 2–5: Paros, four nights; three full days to choose among Parikia, Naoussa, a beach and Lefkes.
- Days 6–9: Naxos, four nights; the first day is a transfer, followed by three full island days.
- Days 10–12: Santorini, three nights with two complete days.
- Day 13: return to Athens for the final night.
- Day 14: fly home.
Total: 13 nights = 1 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 1. To reduce moves, distribute the four Paros nights between Naxos and Santorini. Do not add Milos on top; it can replace an island block if suitable connections exist.
Crete, Corfu and Rhodes are alternatives
Crete supports its own journey with western and eastern bases. Corfu is in the Ionian Sea, while Rhodes is in the Dodecanese. One of these trips may fit a direct flight, cultural interest or beach preference better than the Cyclades circuit.
Check arrival and departure first, nights second and excursions last. The ferry guide explains actual port distinctions; the Naxos and Paros comparison helps choose the longer island block.
