Count hotel nights first. Another night near a park usually adds more usable visiting time than another destination on a transfer day.
Start With the Loop
For seven days, choose Zion and Bryce: three Springdale nights give two full canyon days, while one Bryce night connects an evening rim visit with a morning walk. Add Page and Grand Canyon in ten days. Spend the final night back in Las Vegas; departure day is not a canyon day.
What This Cluster Helps You Decide
Start in Zion with Riverside Walk or another walk suited to your group. Angels Landing is a separate permit decision. Bryce’s amphitheater is enough for a first visit, while two different light conditions at the South Rim matter more than every overlook. In Page, your confirmed canyon tour sets the schedule.
For ten days, keep the route to Zion, Bryce, Page and the South Rim. Monument Valley and Sedona fit the fourteen-day version with a separate return night in Las Vegas. The route guide explicitly counts hotel nights and departure day.
Planning update, September 7, 2026: An August 31 notice temporarily closes Monument Valley’s Scenic Drive to self-driving visitors; Grand Canyon hiking needs a current trail and water check after flood damage. Check the destination guides before booking. The NPS nonresident fees also change the pass comparison for Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon.
The budget guide uses per-person ranges with a shared room and car. Price national park passes, Navajo tours and municipal parking separately; a federal pass does not pay for an Antelope tour. The NPS Bryce weather guide explains the elevation difference.

How many days do you need for the Southwest?+
Ten days work with clear choices. Twelve to fourteen days feel much calmer, especially with Monument Valley, Grand Canyon and Sedona.
Is Las Vegas the best starting point?+
Usually yes. Flights, rental cars, supplies and the route toward Zion line up well.
Do you need a car?+
Yes. The region is not practical for a flexible first route without a rental car.
When is the best time to go?+
Elevation matters: Bryce can still have snowstorms in March and April, with snow returning in October. Las Vegas, Page and low canyon areas can be very hot in summer; July and August also bring thunderstorms. Check each park forecast rather than using one clothing and hiking plan for the whole loop.
Is Antelope Canyon worth it?+
Yes, if a good tour slot is available and Page fits the route. Without a good slot, the stop becomes less compelling.
Should you visit both Zion and Bryce?+
Yes, if you have at least three to four days for the Utah section. They are close but feel very different.
Which costs are easy to forget?+
Resort fees, parking, tribal park fees, Antelope Canyon tours, permit applications, fuel and lodging near park entrances.
