Orientation
The palace hill and Albaicín are separate visits
The Alhambra takes half to a full day with access walks, Generalife and breaks. The printed Nasrid entry time is the fixed appointment within it.
San Nicolás is on the opposite Albaicín hill. Carrera del Darro offers a shorter city walk; climbing to the viewpoint is an additional choice.

I would place the Alhambra between two nights and leave that evening for dinner. A third night makes room for a proper Albaicín walk.

Climbing both hills on a hot day
Alhambra and San Nicolás involve separate climbs. Check current bus or taxi arrangements.
Travel planning answers
Questions about Granada and the Alhambra
How do I get uphill?+
The Patronato lists C30 from the centre and C32 between Alhambra and Albaicín. Check current stops and diversions; alternatives are a taxi or a deliberately planned uphill walk.
Is everything currently open?+
On 7 September 2026 the Alcazaba and Paseo de las Torres were closed, with a special Nasrid route. Recheck before visiting.
Where should I stay?+
Centro/Realejo simplifies city walks; Albaicín offers the historic hillside with more gradients and complicated luggage access. Confirm the exact hotel approach.
Worth it / Skip if
Worth it
For the Nasrid Palaces and Generalife, plus the view from the opposing Albaicín hillside.
Skip if
Without available Nasrid admission, Granada still works as a city stay; do not buy a gardens ticket expecting palace access.
With kids
Children under twelve still need their own free ticket. Pushchairs cannot enter the Nasrid or Generalife palaces; arrange storage and an alternative in advance.

Give the Alhambra its own day
The official shop currently lists general admission at 22.27 EUR. A gardens ticket does not replace Nasrid admission. Detailed booking and child rules follow below. Place the confirmed visit before the next long transfer rather than immediately after an unpredictable arrival.
Choose an Albaicín walk
From Plaza Nueva follow Carrera del Darro toward Paseo de los Tristes. This riverside section is enough for a shorter visit. With energy and extra time, make the separate climb to Mirador de San Nicolás; it can be crowded at sunset. To avoid climbing, check current buses or a taxi uphill and judge the return walk by your mobility.
Base and costs
Two Centro/Realejo nights are the simple choice for Alhambra and a short city walk. Three allow a separate Albaicín day. A room deep in the Albaicín needs a clear luggage and access arrangement.
Daily budgets are per person for two adults sharing a room, including food and local travel, excluding flights, intercity transport, parking and monument tickets. Two general tickets currently cost 44.54 EUR; guiding and extra transport are separate.
Onward planning
Use the Andalusia itinerary for nights and the season guide for heat and winter choices. Save the ticket QR, names, Nasrid time and hotel approach; a digital note does not replace original ID.
Alhambra: ticket or guided tour?
For a visit at your own pace, start with the official Alhambra ticket office. Check the ticket inclusions and current visitor notices there. The Nasrid Palaces have a specified entry time; bring your ticket and a valid original identity card or passport.
A guided tour is worth considering if you want the historical context explained. Before booking, check whether the Nasrid Palaces are included, the tour language and the meeting point. Build the rest of your Granada day around the confirmed time.
On 7 September 2026, the official ticket office reports restrictions: the Alcazaba is closed, the Nasrid Palaces use a special visitor route, and the Paseo de las Torres is closed. Check the notices again immediately before your visit; a ticket name does not guarantee that every normally included area is open.
Children under twelve also need their own free ticket. Under the visitor rules, pushchairs cannot enter the Nasrid Palaces, the Generalife Palace or the Alcazaba; plan a suitable alternative and allow for leaving the pushchair in the designated storage area.
