Golfo di Orosei: Cala Luna, Caves and Goloritzé

Choose Cala Gonone for boat departures

A Cala Gonone property makes sense when you want to board at its harbour in the morning. Still check the walk with your bags and the parking situation. Orosei is a different town base; it can suit a broader east-coast stay but adds a road journey for an early Cala Gonone departure.

Three nights mean arrival, two full days and departure. One day can go to Cala Luna while the second remains free or becomes a hiking day. Four nights are needed for both outings plus weather flexibility.

Confirm the Cala Luna landing and return

For a beach visit, compare a boat allowing a long Cala Luna stay with a cruise making shorter stops at several coves. Ask how much time is actually ashore, when the return leaves and what happens if sea conditions change. A route past the cove does not guarantee a landing.

There is also a hiking approach from Cala Fuili, where the road south of Cala Gonone ends. This is a separate walk over uneven coastal terrain rather than a short beach stroll. If walking out and boating back, arrange the specific return and the final journey to your car in advance. Otherwise, allow for the return walk as part of the physical effort.

Book Bue Marino transport and admission

The guided cave visit and boat journey are distinct services. Cala Gonone Crociere explicitly says that its sailings require cave admission to be purchased separately. Check your chosen offer and match the admission slot to the boat arrival.

The checked visitor information currently lists sea-only access and approximately an hour for the guided visit inside, plus the journey. A Cala Luna combination works when both time windows are explicitly offered or confirmed together. Despite its cooler interior, the cave is not a weather-independent alternative when rough seas prevent the boat from sailing.

Goloritzé starts at Su Porteddu

Drive to the Su Porteddu trailhead on the Golgo plateau near Baunei. Regional tourism guidance gives roughly three kilometres each way, while the route reaches almost 500 metres above the sea. Baunei describes about an hour downhill and around two hours back. For personal planning, I would allow at least ninety minutes for the descent and add breaks.

Reserve the limited beach access through Baunei’s official guidance. Confirm the current booking window, daily conditions and return requirements. Closed shoes with grip, water and food are necessary; the uphill return still has to be completed after your beach time.

A boat can show the coast but, according to regional visitor guidance, cannot land at this cove. A boat reservation therefore does not replace the hiking booking. With small children, compare a specific Cala Luna boat visit against the substantially more demanding Goloritzé day.

Separate costs from the onward journey

The daily bands are editorial allowances per person for two adults sharing a room, with food and local transport. Actual quotes may differ. Flights, boats, cave admission and reserved trail access are additional.

In the island itinerary, continuing to Palau is a separate transfer day. Do not put a long Goloritzé walk before a fixed onward ferry or flight.
