Give Chambéry a city morning
Fontaine des Éléphants, old-town lanes and the area around Château des Ducs de Savoie give the morning a clear direction. Check interior visits, guided tours and cathedral hours separately. For a short transfer stop, keep this town walk and omit a lake circuit.
Separate central Aix from the waterfront
Locate Grand Port, Esplanade and Petit Port, then choose a waterfront section for an out-and-back walk. Explicitly plan the station or hotel connection. A boat trip is optional; if you choose one, check the departure pier and return rather than saving only the excursion name.
Use one hotel for two different days
Chambéry suits onward trains and old-town evenings. A property near the Aix waterfront suits early or late lake walks. Compare the full arrival with luggage and the daytime connection to the other town. With two nights, choose one full city or lake day; three nights allow both.
