Give Annecy a compact town walk and a separate lake day. Three nights with arrival the previous evening provide two full days; two nights provide one.

Connect the old town to the lake on foot
Start beside the Thiou and Palais de l’Île, then cross the old town to Jardins de l’Europe. Pont des Amours and Pâquier extend the walk along the water. Reserve a separate block for the Musée-Château interior if its exhibitions interest you; otherwise leave time for an unhurried lunch.
The greenway is not the whole lake circuit
The west-shore greenway heads towards Sévrier, Saint-Jorioz and points farther south. Ask the rental shop for a section suited to your fitness and return time. Completing the circuit brings climbs and some shared traffic sections on the eastern shore. An easy west-bank recommendation therefore does not describe every route around the lake.
Annecy or a lakeside hotel?
A station or old-town hotel simplifies arrival with luggage and car-free evenings. A Talloires stay suits a day deliberately spent there; check the station transfer and last return connection before booking. “Lake” in a hotel name does not establish walking distance to the water. Add bike hire, boats and parking to rooms and meals.
